The Constant Princess

Hi everybody! Just read the Constant Princess. A great book. Imagine this: a young Spanish princess, Catalina, daughter of Ferdandiad and Isabella of Spain, is sent to England to marry a man she does not know or love.

The weather is bitter cold, and in traveling to her her new home, the princess is frozen almost to death. When her husband learns of this, he repents, and the two swiftly become lovers.

Soon after this, the prince is taken ill. At his deathbed Arthur makes Catalina promise to say she was still a virgin,her husband had been incompetent (lie),so she can marry his younger brother and become Queen of England. Catalina, in honor of her husband, promises.

With only half of her dowry paid, Catalina, is kept in England till her parents pay the rest. With no allowance, clothes, or dowry, what will the sixteen year old widow do?
