The Good Dog

Who’s up for a doggie book? Enter, McKinley! McKinley is the head dog of his town. However, when a wolf, Lupin, comes into his town, and asks the dogs to join her wolf pack, his simple life is turned upside down.

Pycraft has long abused his dog, Duchess. Every dog knew it. So none of them were surprised when Duchess ran away. What was surprising was that Pycraft wanted to find Duchess!

McKinley knows he can’t let that happen, and so he sets off to warn Duchess. To his dismay, he finds a wolf! Lupin had befriended Duchess, and so when Redburn, one of McKinley’s rivals, sets out to track her down, McKinley and his friend, Aspen, help Lupin back to her wilderness where Duchess eventually joins her.

Redburn challenges McKinley at a council of the dogs. He proclaims that since McKinley had submitted to the powerful she-wolf, he is no longer eligible to be head dog. He further argued that since humans fed them and gave them shelter, the dogs must give their owners complete, slave-like obedience, and do whatever they wish.

Challenged, betrayed, and in trouble with his human pup, what’s a dog to do?
